International Metaphysical Standards

New information continuously churns into the world and new Members join the IMC. As such, the Commission’s Metaphysical Systems Accreditation Board (MSAB) regularly convenes to redress the international standards used to determine metaphysical system accreditation.

The standards used to rate metaphysical systems which apply for accreditation are listed below.

  1. The program under evaluation shall be inclusive, and does not discriminate based on race or gender.
  2. Generally, how does the metaphysical system under review approach the following disciplines:
    • Cosmology (the study of the universe and reality)
    • Epistemology and Axiology (the study of Belief and Values)
    • Ontology (the study of Being)
    • Morality and Ethics

More specifically:

  1. Explanation(s) for what reality is comprised of and how this relates to human beings.
    • Ideally this will include a distinction between objective and subjective reality.
    • Or an explanation of why such a distinction is unnecessary.
  2. Explanation(s) for what consciousness might be and how this relates to human beings.
  3. Explanation(s) for how objective reality, subjective reality and consciousness relate to one another.
  4. Explanation(s) for how the metaphysical system under review differs from existing disparate general metaphysical systems.
  5. Explanation(s) / method(s) for how the metaphysical system under review may interface with existing disparate general metaphysical systems.
  6. Explanation(s) or means to integrate the metaphysical system into daily life.

The above list is a high level overview of the standards used and is strongly representative of the most significant part of the vetting process. However, the MSAB takes into consideration that every metaphysical system / organization which applies for Membership and / or accreditation is unique. Since no two systems are identical, it is necessary to allow for flexibility when applying the above standards to any or all systems. To help with assessment, the MSAB works directly with the applicant to guide them through the accreditation process.
